Q: My mate is a very weak Christian. How do I pray so that my mate grows in the Lord?
Pray for your mate to catch a vision of who he or she can become. Specifically, pray that he or she may be filled with the knowledge of God’s will through all wisdom and spiritual understanding.
According to Colossians 1:10, pray that your mate “may live worthy of the Lord, and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.” Substitute your mate’s name in that verse and claim it for him.
Now that you have planted a seed with the Word, and said, “This IS going to happen,” start watering the seed with your words. How? By letting your mate hear your faith-filled words for him. For faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). So instead of saying, “My mate doesn’t have the faith I have,” replace that comment with, “My mate is a person blessed of God, seeking Him and His righteousness” (Matthew 6:33).
When your mate hears you confessing that he walks in the fullness of the knowledge of God, he has the opportunity to catch the same vision. And with both of you standing in agreement about this according to Matthew 18:19, the Lord has the freedom to work according to your faith-filled words and to bless your lives.
