Q: Why am I having trouble receiving healing?

scripture reference

Often the challenge in receiving healing is knowing how to resist the enemy. Without a doubt, Jesus destroyed the works of the devil and delivered mankind from the devil’s authority. However, it is man’s responsibility to resist the forces of evil. We must resist sickness with the same determination that we resist sin.

When we understand that, we will begin to see it is no more difficult to receive healing than it is to receive salvation. Like salvation, healing is available to all, but it comes only to those who receive it. A demand must be placed on the power of God through your faith. When it is, God’s healing power will flow into your body. The key is developing your faith.

Build your faith by listening to the Word of faith preached concerning healing (Romans 10:17). Apply God’s Word by speaking it, thinking it and acting on it—act as if Jesus Himself spoke it to you. See yourself doing what it says you can do. Regardless of what it looks like, what it feels like or what anyone says, as you act on the Word, your healing will appear.

There’s one other thing that a lot of people overlook. Galatians 5:6 says that faith works by love. Love makes faith function properly just like gasoline makes your car function properly. If you do not walk in the love of God, you can impede your faith. Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 and see how the God kind of love thinks and behaves. Then make sure you align your actions and attitudes with the love of God.

As a believer, you have the ability to walk in the God kind of love. Your faith and love working together will hasten your healing!
