The Gospel to the Poor

21 Nov 2025

When Jesus stood up in the synagogue in Nazareth and declared,

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor…” (Luke 4:18, KJV)

He was announcing the most liberating message this world has ever heard:

“He was telling the blind they didn’t have to be blind anymore, the brokenhearted they didn’t have to be broken anymore, and the poor they didn’t have to be poor anymore.”

The gospel is not only about salvation, it’s about restoration. Jesus didn’t come to give people just eternal life; He came to destroy the works of the devil right here, right now, including the curse of lack.

From Eden to Abraham to you, God’s will has always been abundance.
Deuteronomy 8:7-9 (KJV) describes the land God gave His people, a land of wheat, barley, vines, and honey, where “thou shalt not lack any thing in it.”

That’s God’s picture of prosperity: a life of sufficiency, fruitfulness, and overflow. He told His people,

“It is He that giveth thee power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant” (Deuteronomy 8:18).

That same covenant—sealed now by the blood of Jesus—is yours.

The True Purpose of Prosperity

God’s plan for prosperity is not self-indulgence, it’s partnership. Brother Copeland reminds us that God gives wealth for two divine purposes:

  1. To establish His covenant on the earth.
  2. To give to those in need.

“Establishing God’s covenant and giving to the poor—that’s what prosperity is really all about.”

That’s why the Word says in Ephesians 4:28, “Let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.”

When you see money as a ministry tool, your finances will no longer master you; you’ll master them for God’s glory.

Stop Settling for “Just Enough”

Some believers say, “I don’t need much, just enough to meet my needs.” That sounds humble, but it’s actually self-focused. You can’t bless others if all you have is “just enough.”

The Word says, “God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).

That’s more than enough, overflowing with purpose!

Faith Works the Same Everywhere

God’s prosperity isn’t bound by geography or economy. As Brother Copeland shared, believers in drought-stricken villages in Africa saw miraculous increase when they obeyed God’s Word and acted in faith.

The same principle works for you. God can prosper you anywhere, in any season, when you act on His Word.

Faith Declaration

Lord, I thank You that the gospel to the poor is good news for me. I declare that I am no longer bound by lack. You have given me power to get wealth so that Your covenant might be established. I walk in the blessing, not for selfish gain, but to bless others and advance Your kingdom. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
