“Healing Has Passed Away” by Gloria Copeland Today, I’m continuing the series, Lies Christians Believe About Healing. If you have missed the other parts of this series, make sure to go back and read them. I’m uncovering the truth in the Word of God that expose the religious traditions—or lies—that Christians believe about healing. It’s shocking to think that anything can undercut the effectiveness of God’s Word, but this is the truth: Tradition can do it. It can put you in such spiritual apathy that you start acting like the people Jesus talked about in Matthew 13:15. Do you remember how He described them? He said, “For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes—so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.’” Let’s make sure our hearts aren’t hardened like those people. Let’s continue to expose and eliminate lies about healing from your life. Lie #4: Healing has passed away. This tradition was particularly popular among religious folks when I was a kid. They believed that healing had just passed away. They weren’t exactly sure when it happened but, nevertheless, they seemed certain of its demise. When I started reading the Bible, however, I realized they were mistaken. I found out that God said, “I am the Lord that healeth thee” (Exodus 15:26). He didn’t say, “I was the Lord who healed you,” or, “I will be the Lord who heals you in heaven someday.” He said, “I am your Healer—right now, today!” “I am the Lord, I change not” (Malachi 3:6). If those verses hadn’t been enough to convince me that healing couldn’t possibly have passed away, 2 Corinthians 6:2 would have. It says, “Today is the day of salvation.” Salvation means more than just being born again. It means deliverance, preservation, material and temporal deliverance from danger and apprehension, pardon, preservation, protection, liberty, health, and restoration. In other words, salvation refers just as much to healing as it does to any other part of redemption. So, if you need healing you can always be confident that today is your day! Now, let me ask you: Is this what you were taught growing up? Is this what your church teaches right now? If this is not what you are being taught, then I challenge you to find a Word church in your area that will teach you the Word of God and stand with you for your healing. Don’t believe the lie that healing has passed away; don’t settle for anything less than God’s best for your life! Next, I’ll continue uncovering Lies Christians Believe about Healing #5. We’re not finished bringing to light the religious traditions that will keep you sick and tired. So get ready to learn what the Word of God really says, so you can live in divine health!
