Why the flow of abundance starts with Kingdom focus.
“Prosperity doesn’t begin with money, it begins with putting God first.” — Gloria Copeland
In a world often driven by borrowed money and financial anxiety, the idea of living completely debt-free might seem impossible. However, God’s will is to prosper you, but it comes with an order: God must be your first priority. In God’s Will Is Prosperity, Gloria Copeland shares how aligning your heart and habits with the Word opens the floodgates of divine provision.
The Debt Challenge
Gloria Copeland shares how she and Kenneth faced deep financial struggles early in their ministry, living “supernaturally in debt” with past-due bills and threats of lawsuits. They realized that borrowed money was their source of income, leaving them with nothing after bills were paid.
Their journey to financial freedom began when they made a commitment to obey whatever the Lord said. This led them to Romans 13:8, “Owe no man anything but to love one another”. Despite the natural impossibility of living without borrowing, especially for major purchases like a home, they made a quality decision to take this scripture literally, and God saw them through.
Seeking God’s Kingdom according to Matthew 6:33 is the first step they took to financial freedom, “Seek first the kingdom of God…and all these things shall be added unto you.” When God is your Source, you won’t live in stress over finances. You’ll live in supernatural supply.
Gloria writes, “God doesn’t care how much money you have, as long as money doesn’t have you.” The key is honoring God with your thoughts, time, and treasure, then will He honor you.
Prosperity Is Protected by Obedience
Prosperity is not automatic; it is spiritually protected. It flows through the channel of obedience. The Copelands made a decision early in ministry to live by Romans 13:8 and God honored that commitment and met every need.
Prioritize the Word. Your relationship with the Word determines your level of prosperity. Proverbs 4:20-22 tells us that the Word is life and health. When you fill your heart with God’s Word, you position yourself to prosper.
Want to prosper God’s way? Put Him first. Let His Word become your final authority and highest pursuit. The result will be supernatural abundance.
Faith Step: Say this aloud: “I seek God first. I honor His Word and obey His voice. Provision is flowing into my life.”
