I first caught sight of the power of THE BLESSING back in 1967, and it changed my life almost overnight.

At that time, I was born again—but I was still struggling. My life was in a mess. A failed business had left me broke, and years of borrowing had buried me in debt I had no way to repay. I knew I was called to preach, and I knew The LORD was leading me to go to Oral Roberts University. The problem was, I couldn’t see how it was possible.

With a wife and children to support, going to school full-time didn’t make sense in the natural. But Gloria said something I’ll never forget: “We might as well starve in the will of God as starve outside of it.” She was right. So we packed up and went.

THE ORIGINAL BLESSING

Once we got to Tulsa, I made a decision. If there was a way out of the situation I was in, I would find it in The WORD of God. I threw myself into the Word day and night—listening, studying, feeding on it constantly. And as I did, something began to rise on the inside of me.

One day, while meditating on Galatians 3:13-14;29, I saw it. “If you be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”  When that truth hit me, it hit me like a freight train. I realized I was in covenant with Almighty God. Everything He promised Abraham belonged to me.

And I knew this much about Abraham—HE WASN’T POOR.

So right there, I said it: “Glory to God, I’m not poor anymore!”

Now, nothing had changed on the outside. I still had debts. The circumstances were the same. But something in me had changed. I no longer thought like a poor man. I knew I had a covenant with God—a Father who was rich, powerful, and backing me just like He backed Abraham and Jesus.

Within eleven months, every cent of that debt was gone.

That was THE BLESSING at work.

SEEING THE BIGGER PICTURE

Now, when I first learned about THE BLESSING, the financial side of it thrilled me—and it still does—but I soon found out it’s far bigger than money. THE BLESSING includes everything God has provided for us in redemption.

It’s His power at work in our lives, bringing salvation, healing, peace, and provision. 

The Lord didn’t show me all of that at once. He never does. He builds revelation step by step, from faith to faith and from glory to glory (Romans 1:17; 2 Corinthians  3:18). What He shows you today becomes the foundation for what He’ll show you tomorrow.

Too many believers stop right there, though. They take one truth and settle down in it. But what God gives us isn’t a campground; it’s a launching place. There’s always more in The WORD, and we must stay open to it.

A FRESH PERSPECTIVE

Over time, The LORD began to show me something that brought it all together. All the things we call “blessings”—healing, provision, peace—aren’t separate at all. They are all part of one BLESSING. The same BLESSING God spoke in the beginning when He said, “Be fruitful, multiply, replenish, subdue, and have dominion.”—Genesis 1:28

That one BLESSING contains everything we will ever need.

It was given in the Garden, established through Abraham, fulfilled in Jesus, and now it belongs to us.

Jesus didn’t come to benefit Himself. He came so we could be BLESSED. He became Abraham’s Seed so that THE BLESSING could come on us—and through us, reach the world.

SOARING INTO GOD’S PLAN

Now I’ll tell you, truths like this can challenge the way you’ve thought for years. That’s alright. Don’t reject it, and don’t take my word for it either. Go to The WORD and see it for yourself. If it’s there, receive it and let it change you.

Because when the reality of THE BLESSING gets on the inside of you, it will lift you out of limitation and into a whole new way of living.

That’s what it did for me.

And it will do the same for you.

So get ready.

Let’s fire up the engines… and fly.

Declaration

Father, I receive the reality of THE BLESSING in my life. I declare that I am empowered to prosper, empowered to increase and empowered to fulfill Your purpose. I choose to believe Your Word above every limitation, and I walk in the fullness of what You have provided through Jesus Christ. Amen.

This week, read Genesis 1:26-28 and meditate on God’s first words to mankind. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal THE BLESSING as God’s divine empowerment at work in your life. Then begin to expect His promises to manifest as part of His original plan for you.
