Vaccine mandates, the infiltration of unbiblical teaching in our schools, and the increase of violence around the country. These alone are enough reason for God’s people to press in and hear from Him about every issue, every day.
Make no mistake—we do not fear—but we also do not neglect to tap into the most powerful source of knowledge that never, ever fails—the wisdom of God. The world offers all kinds of advice and “help” in the form of mainstream media, social media posts and social pressure. But there is no “my truth” and “your truth”; there is only one truth and that is the Word of God.
God has very specific and personalized information for you. It is designed to protect you and promote you, personally, in everything you do.
Now more than ever, we need God’s correction and direction to keep us on the right path and moving from victory to victory. Whether you need to know which job to take, which house to buy, whether to open your business now or later, or even the answer to why something happened in your life, you can have the answers you seek. Here’s how to receive direction from God in any area of your life.
1. Ask God for wisdom.
James 1:5 says, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you.” Could it really be that simple? It is! Remember this, God wants to give you the answers you need. He wants you to succeed in everything—physically, financially, in relationships, in your job—everything. No matter how small your situation may seem, ask God for the answer. And ask in faith. He will answer you. It may not be instantly, but it won’t be long. And it will be exactly what you need to know.
2. Respond quickly and quietly to His correction.
Whenever you ask God for something, the first thing He is going to do is correct you. If you’re missing something, it means there’s something out of alignment that needs a course correction. Don’t shut down; don’t cover your spiritual ears and sing—LISTEN. He’s giving you the keys to the Kingdom. It may be an attitude that needs changing, a person you need to forgive, or a step of obedience you haven’t yet taken. Whatever it is, respond quickly and quietly.
3. Follow His directions like GPS.
When you’re driving someplace you’ve never been, you don’t just get in the car, speak some confessions, and hope to arrive. No! You follow the directions. If you want to get where you’re wanting to go in life, you need to do the same—follow God’s directions like you would follow GPS. Where do you get His directions? In His Word, by His Spirit and from other faith-filled people.
4. Love. Love. Love.
Love never fails. That means if you’re walking in love, you can’t fail. Why aren’t things working out for you? Something in your love walk is missing. You may not think it is—you may not even realize it, but it doesn’t make it any less true. Here’s where the wisdom of God comes in. Instead of asking God again and again for that same thing you desire, take a break. Instead, spend the next two weeks asking God to show you where your love walk needs to improve. Then, do what He says!
When you learn how to receive direction from God, you will be headed straight for that dream, that desire, that goal, that purpose. You’ll be headed straight for the breakthrough and victory you’ve been dreaming of!
