Believers Must Take Authority Over the World Situation
In times like these, when the world seems out of control—wars, crises, and fear everywhere—it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But Jesus gave us a command in Matthew 24:6-7: “See that ye be not troubled.” We’re not called to live like the world, in fear of what’s to come. Instead, we’re called to live in faith, knowing God’s promises are true and His Word is unshakable.
As believers, we are meant to resist fear and take charge through faith and prayer. In troubled times, we are to stand on God’s promises, cast out fear, and bring hope to others. Here’s how to align with God’s Word and rise above the turmoil.
Keep Your Mind on God’s Word
The command to “be not troubled” might seem impossible, but it’s not—especially when we lean on God’s Word. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” We guard our hearts by filling them with God’s truth. The news may say one thing, but our hearts don’t have to reflect the fears of the world. Anchoring our thoughts in Scripture brings peace and assurance that Jesus is in control.
It’s easy to get caught up in bad news, but remember—Jesus is Lord over all, and His authority overrides any earthly circumstance. Satan’s power is limited. Jesus is the head of the Church, and His Kingdom reigns above all.
Focus on Faith, Not Fear
Where’s your focus? Are you worrying about the latest crisis or government issues? If so, it’s time to realign. Our focus belongs on God’s Word. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 tells us to pray for our leaders so we can live in peace. Our response to trouble isn’t fear—it’s prayer.
When fear tries to take root, turn to prayer. In the face of wars, disease, or financial hardship, shift your focus to the One who holds everything in His hands. Jesus taught us to guard our hearts from fear. When we do, we preserve our peace and hold the line of faith for the world.
Be Mindful of What You Hear
In Mark 4:24, Jesus said: “Take heed what you hear.” What we let into our minds shapes our hearts. The world bombards us with negativity through news and social media, but we can choose what we listen to.
Believers must tune into God’s Word rather than the fear of the world. Jesus promised in John 16:13 that the Holy Spirit would guide us and reveal truth. Through the Holy Spirit, we gain confidence and insight beyond what’s happening around us.
Live by Faith, Not by Fear
Yes, there are real concerns in this world—financial troubles, health issues, uncertainty in society. But remember, Jesus never said that we’d be free of trouble; He said we should stand untroubled. The cares of this world choke God’s Word in our hearts (Mark 4:19). When we protect that Word, it grows and gives us strength.
Faith isn’t ignoring problems; it’s living above them. God’s Word isn’t shaken by circumstances, and neither should we be. Faith allows us to respond differently, trusting God’s promises. We can live generously and confidently, even in scarcity, because we know God is our source.
Trust God’s Provision
Philippians 4:19 says, “God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Even in uncertain times, generosity shows God’s provision. When we give, we show the world that God’s supply is abundant. Be fearless in giving—it demonstrates faith and strengthens your trust in God.
When we give, we’re planting seeds that allow God to show His supernatural supply. While the world holds back out of fear, we give in faith, knowing our Father is more than able.
Cast Your Cares on the Lord
1 Peter 5:6-7 says, “Humble yourselves… casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you.” It takes humility to give our burdens to God. Worry robs us of peace and victory, while holding onto burdens keeps us from living fully in God’s plan.
I want to challenge you today: cast your cares on the Lord. When you give your burdens to Him, you’re not only obeying His command but opening the door for His power to work on your behalf. Letting go isn’t weakness—it’s faith. When we place our cares in His hands, we are choosing to live in His strength instead of our own.
Victory Is Ours
We are not called to live under the weight of fear. Jesus has already overcome the world, and He calls us to stand in His victory. When He said, “See that ye be not troubled,” He called us to live above the world’s worries.
By prioritising God’s Word, staying in prayer, and guarding our hearts, we can experience peace, strength, and provision. We may be in this world, but we are not of it. We’re citizens of Heaven, where our needs are met by God’s riches in glory. This assurance allows us to live confidently, knowing God is in control.
Cast your cares on Him, pray for your leaders, and live generously. In doing so, you not only keep your peace but also show the world God’s faithfulness. Victory is already ours in Christ. The world may be shaken, but our God is not—and in Him, neither are we.
