Are you low on energy, having trouble losing weight, or feeling the effects of aging? You don’t have to be! Find out how you can change your life.
Divine health is God’s will for you. He created you—spirit, soul and body—and His desire, and expectation, is for you to live long and strong on the earth. Too many Christians have accepted the world’s way of seeing health and aging, and they embrace a decline in strength and energy as time goes on. Even worse, they’ve begun to expect disease, while taking the medical community at their word with regard to prevention and treatment.
The problem, according to Dr. Don Colbert, , is that most doctors are controlled by big pharmaceutical companies that dictate how to treat patients—almost always with prescription drugs that do more harm than good. Medical information almost doubles every 78 days. That means most doctors are not up to speed on cutting-edge medical research and treatments, leaving most patients suffering from the same symptoms year after year.
That’s why Kenneth Copeland sat down with Dr. Colbert and his wife, Mary, in a series of broadcasts to bring new revelation to the Body of Christ so we can live happy, healthy and long on this earth. If you’re ready to increase your energy, prevent or reverse disease, and change your life, here are five ways to live in divine health.
1. Intermittent Fasting
“Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh.” –Galatians 5:24 (NIV)
Dr. Colbert’s mission is to see people made whole. That doesn’t just mean healing—it means living your best life possible! Based on recent, Spirit-led research, Dr. Colbert released a groundbreaking new book: Dr. Colbert’s Hormone Health Zone. According to his wife, Mary, this is the most important book he’s ever written. He himself said he has not seen such dramatic results in his practice with any other prior approach
One of the newest and proven strategies he has implemented with all his patients is intermittent fasting. Fasting is a tool that has been used for spiritual purposes for thousands of years. However, fasting is not just for spiritual health—it can promote health and regeneration in the physical body as well.
What is intermittent fasting?
Rather than a once-in-a-while event, intermittent fasting is the daily practice of narrowing your feeding period to eight hours each day. For example, with intermittent fasting, you would finish your final meal of the day at 6 p.m. and then fast for 16 hours before breaking your fast at 10 a.m. the next day. During the fasting period, you may continue to drink fluids such as water, herbal tea and black coffee.
A 16:8 intermittent fasting plan (fasting 16 hours and eating during an eight-hour window) will bring you optimum results, but if you find this too difficult, you may start with 14 or even 12 fasting hours instead of 16. Then, try to work up to the 16-hour fasting period for as many days per week as possible. Dr. Colbert says his healthiest patients are those who fast 16 hours each day, seven days per week.
What are the benefits of intermittent fasting?
Some amazing things happen to your body when you allow it the opportunity to take a break from digesting. Because you are going a longer period without offering your body food, your body moves into a process called autophagy, which is when the body begins to eat up abnormal proteins in your brain (associated with dementia) and in your muscles. Liver glycogen is then depleted, resulting in the lowering of blood sugar. Fasting also promotes stem cell production. In short, it gets rid of the bad and regenerates the good.
The results in Dr. Colbert’s practice have been astounding. Some of the amazing results include:
- Reversal of plaque in the arteries
- Lowered blood pressure
- Weight loss
- Improved memory
- Increased strength and energy.
“It’s so simple, anyone can do it. Every Christian should be intermittent fasting,” Dr. Colbert advised. The Bible teaches us to pray, tithe and fast. God has spiritual intentions for each of these, but they produce physical results, as well.
Now, you might be thinking, What happened to breakfast being the most important meal of the day? Dr. Colbert reminds us to keep in mind that medical knowledge is constantly growing and evolving, and new research has proven time and again what the Bible has told us for thousands of years—there’s power in fasting.
This is a simple, free strategy to keep you living in divine health. It will give you energy, help you sleep, and clear your mind, making you part of a strong, healthy Church!
2. Choose Right Foods
“Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” –1 Corinthians 10:31 (ESV)
Intermittent fasting may seem like a challenge, but most Christians struggle even more with choosing right foods. Dr. Colbert recommends following a Keto Zone Diet, but overall, he emphasizes choosing life-giving foods for the body. To Dr. Colbert, this means a primarily plant-based diet: fruits, vegetables, whole grains, seeds and nuts. In addition, he advises avoiding gluten, processed meats like bacon and sausage, and—his No. 1 concern—sugar. He emphasizes that sugar invites disease into the body and is an enemy to living in divine health.
This is where most Christians struggle to crucify their flesh. Sugar, desserts and white breads all contribute to many of the diseases and health problems we see today. For example, the No. 1 cause of death in the United States is heart disease, which comes from inflammation. What feeds inflammation? Sugar, bad fats, transfats, carbs and starches. Choosing healthy foods, on the other hand, will significantly reduce inflammation.

Another disease caused by wrong food choices is Type 2 diabetes. Using dietary changes as well as other strategies, Dr. Colbert regularly reverses diabetes in his patients. He begins by putting his diabetic patients on a Keto Zone Diet, combined with exercise and optimized hormones, and has seen a great success rate in the reversal of this disease.
You might be thinking, I don’t want to give up the foods I like—the chocolate cake, the sodas, the desserts. But remember this: Your body is not your own. It was bought with a price! Dr. Colbert encourages a significant reduction in sugar, but he has always maintained that an occasional dessert is acceptable.
What does it take to make right food choices? Kenneth Copeland, who was once 100 pounds overweight and addicted to sugar, says, “Nothing happens without a decision, and a quality decision is one that you can’t turn back from.”
You can live in divine health by simply choosing to eat healthy foods. It will change your health and change your life!
3. Get Moving and Get Strong
“There was not one feeble person among their tribes.” –Psalm 105:37 (KJV)
Kenneth Copeland has shared his testimony about his journey to divine health and making right food choices. But the missing piece of his puzzle for years was exercise. He didn’t like it! But when he finally put this strategy into practice, he was amazed at the difference it made in his life. In fact, he has become so strong, he now challenges Dr. Colbert to do as many pushups and hold a plank for as long as he does!
Dr. Colbert reminds the Body of Christ that the human body is made for movement. Just like water turns stagnant when it isn’t moved, the body (which is 70 percent water) will also become stagnant and subject to disease when it isn’t moved.
God wants His Church strong in the last days and living life to the fullest! Unfortunately, so many people at about age 65 start to get weak and feeble. That’s not God’s will for you! Who wants to be frail and feeble in the end times? No one! Yet, some people have lost so much strength and muscle mass that they are unable to get themselves out of a bathtub or even off the toilet. That frailty does not belong on the body of a believer.
Along with good food choices and optimizing hormones (our next strategy), Dr. Colbert recommends strength exercises. The primary move he recommends to his patients is the plank hold. To do this, position your body face down and elevated on your elbows and toes in a perfectly flat position. Don’t let your head fall down—keep a straight line! Then hold this position for one minute. Do this at least five days per week. (Kenneth Copeland, at age 84, holds a plank for three minutes each day!)
Plank holds reset your posture, strengthen your core, and increase muscle mass. This simple daily exercise is free and easy, and it will prevent feebleness, increase strength and keep you from being bent over. People of all ages—including those in their 60s, 70s and 80s—can increase strength and improve their lives—moving into divine health!
Dr. Colbert Tip: You can start out holding a plank position on your knees for 30 seconds, then work up to the full minute on your toes.
No matter what you do—get moving and get strong! If you don’t like exercise, begin to speak the Word, declare that you like exercise, and declare that you are getting stronger and stronger. Once you feel what it’s like to be strong, you won’t want to go back!
4. Optimize Your Hormones
“I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you.” –3 John 2 (NIV)
While so much focus is on eating right and exercising, one of the most important factors in determining our health, according to Dr. Colbert, is balancing or optimizing hormone levels in our bodies. His recent research has caused him to determine that it is the most important aspect of overall health and enjoyment of life. In his book Dr. Colbert’s Hormone Health Zone, he shares his latest research, as well as real-life stories about his patients. He found that optimizing hormone levels reverses disease, increases energy and changes people’s lives dramatically. “When you optimize your hormones, most diseases start to leave,” he says.
Many Christians are struggling with physical problems but have not found answers through traditional medicine. These include: loss of energy, poor sleep quality, decline in muscle mass and bone density, sexual dysfunction, foggy brain, poor memory, cold hands and feet. The list goes on and on.
Most people take their symptoms to their doctor, have testing done, and are told they are “within range.” The problem with the way the medical community has determined healthy ranges is that the ranges are based on the statistical information of the general public. They are what is generally accepted, rather than what is required for optimal health and vitality.
Dr. Colbert encourages believers to go to a doctor who is willing to optimize hormone levels and do so through bioidentical hormones, not synthetic hormones. (A listing of doctors throughout the country who subscribe to this approach is included in Dr. Colbert’s book.) He says, “Bioidentical hormones are one of the most important factors in restoring your health and preventing disease. They program your body for strength, vitality and energy. Your youth is renewed like the eagle’s when you optimize your hormones.”

Above all, Dr. Colbert emphasizes the fact that none of the first four means of living in divine health will be as effective without the Word of God coming out of our mouths. When we speak the Word of God, we are enforcing our covenant right to divine health, healing and longevity. Faith mixed with works (the first four steps) will bring results! Simply put, don’t spend time investing in eating right, exercising and optimizing your hormones, then speak sickness and death over yourself.

The Israelites kept speaking they were going to die in the wilderness. That’s where the limitation of living to age 70 or 80 came from, but God put the marker at 120. Instead of speaking words of death, “let the weak say, I am strong” (Joel 3:10, KJV). This is a vital part of living in divine health.
“Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better” (1 Timothy 4:8). Take action, then line your speech up with God’s Word.
