When praying for the sick, remember you are not the healer. You are only using your hands as a point of contact to release your faith. The person receiving is doing likewise. It is the Word of God that brings healing.

Many people have the idea that Jesus went around laying hands on everyone He met, but He did not. He would preach and teach God’s Word, and when someone would believe what He said, he or she would be healed. In His hometown, because of their unbelief, He could do no mighty works except lay His hands on a few sickly folk with minor ailments and heal them (Mark 6:1-6).

We recommend you obtain a copy of Smith Wigglesworth’s book The Apostle of Faith and Kenneth Hagin’s book Healing Belongs to All which go into greater detail on the laying on of hands. They can be found at your favorite online bookstores.
