Regarding the use of alcohol, the Bible says the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and that we are to glorify God in our bodies and in our spirits (1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:20). The fact that alcohol affects the mind and reflexes, and alters the will, should be reason enough to avoid using it. When a person’s will is altered by anything other than the Word of God, Satan will take the opportunity to influence him.
As a believer, you have the life of God dwelling in you. His life and Spirit in you will guide and direct you. Your conscience will “prick” you about things that are not pleasing to God. The Bible says, “Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything” (1 John 3:20).
God’s Word holds you responsible for living a life that is holy and acceptable to God, and by His Spirit He has given you the power to make a change. You have been delivered from the authority of Satan and translated into the kingdom of God’s dear Son (Colossians 1:13)!
God is on your side! If He is for you, no person and no thing (not even alcohol) can be against you (Psalm 118:6; Romans 8:31, 37).
